Historical Society of Topsail Island Announces 2026 Scholarship Contest Winners

The Historical Society of Topsail Island is proud to announce the winners of its 2026 scholarship contest!

Eligible applicants included graduating seniors from Dixon High School and Topsail High School attendance areas, as well as Early College and homeschooled students residing within these districts. To qualify, students needed an unweighted GPA of 2.5 or higher.

Participants showcased their historical knowledge by selecting a significant event from Onslow or Pender County and presenting their research in one of four formats: a written essay (750 words or more), an original piece of art, an original song, or original poetry. Each submission was evaluated based on its depth of understanding and its ability to convey the historical importance of the chosen event.

We commend all students who took part in preserving and celebrating local history through their creativity and scholarship!
